Re: Pulling my hair out!!!! HELP!!!!!

I think a d/a with a 9207 pad would be the best choice. Due to the softness of your paint.
    quality creates its own demand

I hope my DA arrives soon as this is killing me, I ordered the new Meg's DA. Some help would be nice and I would love the chance to learn from someone else but I agree a couple thousand miles is a little extreme, now if a Meg's rep wanted to come out I wouldn't object lol. I don't understand the Polishing Compound doing this though, isn't that supposed to be less abrasive than the 205? Its weird but the Meg's consumer line of cleaner wax is the only thing that don't harm my paint and it don't haze either, but it don't remove swirls as its not supposed too I guess.. This is getting expensive also, I bought soooooo much Meg's product to try and fix this that my wallet is feeling like an abused dog cowering in the corner lol

Can you list all of the Meguiar's products that you've tried and that you own?

Every paint system is different. No single combination of product and tools works for every car. It's all trial and error--and skill and experience. I do not know how much experience you have with a rotary, but I do know that it takes years to master it. Even experienced rotary users find they sometimes have to turn to a DA to remove the hazing and holograms left behind by the rotary.

You already have both the tool and products needed to remove the swirls in your paint, but it may be that you will need to use a DA to remove the rotary holograms. You may also wish to invest in a bottle of Menzerna PO85RD, which is a gentle finishing polish. Good luck!

This is everything I have, I forgot to put the 205 in there and after paying $35 for 32oz of it I should have put it front and center lol

I was in a body shop for several years and my job was to wet sand and buff every car that came out of the body shop so I feel like I can confidently use a rotary but I will agree with you that even the best need different tools. I did pick up some show car glaze #7 today and it looks like I might have some better luck with that than the other things ive used but it is dark out now so Ill have to look tomorrow at my test spot. Where do I get the Menzerna from?

Re: Pulling my hair out!!!! HELP!!!!!

Ok cool. So, when you get your DA, use a yellow pad and go over a small (but swirled-up) area of the car (hood would be easiest) with the swirlX. Do this several times on the same area because SwirlX is very mild. If you notice the finish getting better or at least not worse, then try ScratchX on the same area.

The way you want to work it in with the DA is like this:

Get a yellow pad, put a circle or "+" of product on the pad. Now, set the DA to speed level 3 and spread the product around the small test area. Then, turn the DA up to speed 5 and work it in for about 6 passes.

You want to start mild and get a little more aggressive and find a happy medium as to what won't further damage the paint but also what will be aggressive enough to correct the swirls you already have.

After you do this, please report back here and if possible, with photos before and after. Do this whether or not it gets better or worse.

Re: Pulling my hair out!!!! HELP!!!!!

#7 is a pure, nonabrasive polish, so it isn't going to be of any use to you at this point.

It appears, on the basis of your photograph and your article, that with the exception of M205 your arsenal does not include a strong polish/compound that is approved to be used with a rotary. However, some (many?) detailers do successfully use Ultimate Compound with their rotary polishers. Perhaps they will chime in here and share the methods they use.

BTW, what pads do you use with your rotary? That is an important piece of information that the experts will need to know.

While you are waiting to hear from the rotary experts, do read this article by Michael Stoops: The Challenge of Delicate Paint.

The MOL experts will see you through to success. Just be patient.
