i used the hot rims all wheel cleaner on my wheels yesterday. i did one wheel at a time to make sure it wouldn't harm my wheels. after giving time to penetrate and hose off, it didn't seem to be doing anything harmful. i wasn't overly impressed with its cleaning ability. but, i must say, no wheel cleaner has ever made my wheels shine like the all wheel cleaner did. i was very impressed with the shine i received on my wheels. my wheels have NEVER shined like this. even when my truck was brand new. i did however have to get my elbows a little dirty to get all the little nooks and crannies. even after i sprayed the wheels with the all wheel cleaner and rinsed them off, i still had small amounts of brake dust here and there that i had to get out with a rag. it wasn't a big deal, i just thought i would mention it.

MM, agitating the product is often required. In some cases agitation and repeated application are necessary. It shouldn't be expected that the product alone will do all the removal. On your next use of the product, a slight amount of agitation with a wheel brush will likely be adequate.
ok, thanks for the tips. i've always scrubbed with every wheel cleaner i've used. but i thought all wheel cleaner was different because of a couple videos i saw on youtube. everyone just sprayed down their wheel with all wheel cleaner, then hosed off, and everything seemed to come off. i guess thats only when your wheels are really caked with brake dust.
regardless, i dont mind having to use rag and clean them by hand a little. i just can't get over the shine and gloss i got!!

Brake dust is hot when it hits the wheel. It's hot enough to essentially weld itself to the wheel. Some chunks are bigger than others and they do a pretty good job of burning themselves into the wheel. This is the stuff that is more difficult to remove.
If you clean the brake dust from your wheels regularly, chances are you are only going to come across the nasty spots once in a while. It's when you take a wheel that hasn't been cleaned for years, that it seems like the products is less than effective on it's own.
Take a look at this video Ravi made. He's using Wheel Brightener, which is basically the same strength as All Wheel Cleaner.
Go to about the 7 minute mark if you want to see, some of the bad stuff that got left behind. These are from some of the big hot chunks over time.
