Factory rims are coming clear coated more and more. If they are Toyota OEM, they are probably clear coated. If you want to check for sure, take a little metal polish and try a small test spot on the rim. If you start seeing the black residue, it's bare metal.

what is the difference in hot rims all wheel cleaner, and gold class all wheel cleaner?

Gold Class is safe for any wheel I believe and is weaker than All Wheel Cleaner.

Hard to compare exactlyl, but the Aluminum Wheel Cleaner with some soft brushes is plenty strong for most situations.

The All-Wheel Cleaner is safe for painted/clear coated aluminum wheels, like factory wheels would be, and factory brakes, etc.

But if you want safest/mildest for everything, Aluminum (or Multi-Piece if you ever find an old bottle) is safest.

I dont know about bad caked on dirt, but as far as regular detailing, the Aluminum is plenty strong. If you wash very often, you may get away with regular car soap and water, which would be even milder.

The Aluminum Wheel Cleaner or car wash soap is safe for everything, no checking needed.

From your picture of the wheels they sure look like typical silver painted wheels. Is there any area on the face of those wheels that looks different in finish from the face of the spokes? Is any part of the lip, side of the spokes or the area between the spokes and inboard of the lip a mirror finish (looks more like chrome than silver paint)? If so then you might want to stick with the Aluminum Wheel Wash. But if the whole surface of the front of the wheels looks like those silver spokes, All Wheel Cleaner will be just fine.

It is extremely rare to see OEM wheels without a clear coat these day - the upkeep on bare high polished aluminum is so high that the OEMs would be dealing with warranty claims all day long.

the entire wheel looks the same in all areas that i'm aware of. which would you recommend? i want to make sure i'm not harming my brake components or anything else behind the wheel also.

i just returned from the store. i picked up some hot rims all wheel cleaner based on the recommendations. do you guys think i should do a test spot on a small portion of the wheel first?
