  • Foam Canon!

I bought a foam canon from silvSS03 and I got it today! I couldn't wait any longer to try it! So I washed my car even tho the forecast doesn't look good for tomorow ahah!

In the pictures, the soap doesn't seem to ''stick'' to the car but it did!

    Very nice.

I just ordered a foam gun from ADS, just for fun.

I really liked it ! Even tho its not necessary, I had fun! Also, I didn't use any special soap, I just used some Robo-Lav from VTO wich I think is a local compagny!

That's great. Every time I see pics of a foam gun, I want one. Enjoy it.

I love my foam cannon. I use it for every detail! all I need is a rinse bucket with gritguard, no second bucket. much easier.

            They do look fun.
I never thought about the time savings, but it makes sense. Another thing I never really thought about, is that your car should become cleaner. It looks like you get soap into every nook and cranny.

I feel they're a must (foam cannon or foam gun) for black cars. Pre-lubricating the entire vehicle before your wash mit touches the surface is certainly an extra precaution to avoid scratching.

What about soap? Are you saving soap because you are only using what you spray. Do you save car wash soap with a foam gun vs. filling a bucket?

I know I'm always pouring half a bucket of car wash soap&water out after I'm done my wash.

                  Re: Foam Canon!

I've been tempted to get a foam gun, but now I want a cannon! That is so foamy!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                  I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                  Remove swirls my friends.

I find that my 2oz of soap + 30oz water lasts up to 3 washes with heavy foaming

That's a great savings! I didn't realize the water to soap ratio was so low 15:1, no wonder the soap sticks.

2/3 oz. of soap per wash is pretty awesome. I'm usually using 2 ounces per wash plus 270 ounces (2 gal.) of water.

I will certainly look into getting one of these guns/canons. I know there are lots of threads on guns, so I sift through those for recommendations, but if anyone wants to share a suggestion or link, that would be great.

                      Thanks

I have the Gilmour and I used it once on the car. Sure, it was fun, and the neighbors got a charge watching me, however I felt it was not for me. The soap dried to quickly, and compared to the simple two bucket method, it was cumbersome and really a pain. . I am a proponent of washing one panel at a time and then rinsing, and that process is not what the gun is for. So, it is now relegated to the back yard for the kids to play with. Waste of money for my car, but a cool toy for the kids.

Why can't you just wash a single panel at a time?

What the gun is for is to pre-soak the car in soap...be it the entire car or a single panel, so that drit/grit can run off and the panel be lubricated before you touch it.

The point of the gun isn't to replace typical 2-bucket washing.

I use about .75 oz of soap for an entire car-wash in my foam gun (autogeek/rebadged gilmour), and that is actually a bit overkill. The soap I use is Chemcial Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss which is highly HIGHLY concentrated.

Sure thing. I use either Megs Hyperwash or the Automagic varient -Cherry Bubbles. They both have a high dilution ratio. But then again, once you have a foam cannon, buying soap isn't much an issue since its so much fun to play with

Gilmour foam doesn't stick. Longest I had it stick was 3 minutes. Foam Cannons are in a different league. I've had it dwell dwell up to 15min on the paint before. Can't compare apples to oranges
