  • Is this enough Ultimate Compound for 1 car? (picture included)

I plan on using my DA on my black 2009 Chrysler 300 this weekend. There are very light swirl marks, no deep scratches. Do I have enough product? I have what is shown at the bottom edge of the white tape.

    D.

Yep That should be enough. UC is strong enough to take out swirls marks really fast.
It gave me a 80% correction on my car last weekend

Likely a bit too aggressive of product for light swirl marks with a DA. You should order some M205. You'll like want to follow up with M205 on a black vehicle even if Ultimate Compound is needed.

You should be doing the test spot first with a less aggressive product like M205 it may be all you need.

After using Ultimate Compound would it be appropriate/acceptable to follow up with Swirl-X rather than M205?

SwirlX is one step up in aggressiveness over M205. It will smooth things out quite a bit and the end result should be quite good, but M205 would be preferred.

Take a look at this link if you want to see how some products compare by aggressiveness.

should be plenty of product. Make sure you post your results. Good luck.

              D.

I would do the horizontal surfaces first and then start on the sides just incase you run out.

I like to make sure I've got more then enough to have to finish the job, and if that's all you have at the bottom of the tape my luck would be running out!

I'm interested in your outcome though!

Thanks for all the input. I will do a test area first but I will definitely look into getting some SwirlX and/or M205. When I looked at the aggressive comparison link it looks like the UC might be a bit too aggressive.

                    Hey deep

Don't forget that pad-pressure-arm speed and speed on your DA also plays a role in how aggressive a product can be, you can take swirlX and with a more aggressive method be more aggressive then UC if your not using enough pressure-pad-speed you get the ideal.

This may be comparing apples to oranges, but I have a 2009 Town and Country with minor swirls, swirls so minor, than Gold Glass liquid fills it in and hides them very well. Anyway, I tried Swirl X with a green CCS pad with my PC on 6 and it did not do a lot to correct the swirls. I have some UC left over form my father-in-law's Dakota and I have yet to use it on the Town and Country. Even on that Dakota UC with a yellow CCS pad did no better than 80% correction on two applications. I am under the impression that Chrysler jsut has some really hard paint.

Swirl X is a mild product imo, but UC should take care of most of the swirls, light scratches etc ..
