  • Micro-scratches in black

Hey guys, when I was washing my car the other day, I noticed that I have a couple of very fine scratches in the paint. I'm kind of unsure how to proceed because I tried using some scratch-x with a microfiber towel and it didn't help, I'm not completely sure that I applied it correctly though. One scratch can't be felt with my finger nail, while the other just barely can. This is my first black car, so any help is appreciated.

    Was it ScratchX 2.0?

How to correctly apply ScratchX to remove swirls and scratches

Removing defects has a lot to do with technique, be sure to read the link above and try to replicate this on your own vehicle.

      Any chance of posting pictures?

2.0 will be better in general, but try to use it similar to the video along your scratches. Just be carefull to work with your palm and across your fingers, dont work with your finger tips.

I tried the 2.0 out today using the recommended methods and it definitely came out better this time. However, after I was done it looks like there are now other tiny scratches from when I wiped off the product. I've been using a foam applicator and a micro-fiber towel to wipe off. Should I be doing it differently?

Curious... what year and make vehicle? If you say a '07 Jet Black BMW you're going to be very unhappy.

Yeah, some pics and info on the car could help.

I would step back to a milder product now, like SwirlX.

If we find the paint is super soft, we may need to go even milder like a cleaner/wax.

I went over the scratches today with a coat of wax and it did a good job of hiding them, but they are still there. I know they are def in the clearcoat becuase I can't feel them at all with my fingernail.

If you were trying to feel them with your nail, did you notice your nail leaving any marks?

I was being extremely careful, but no it wasn't leaving any marks. We actually got some good sunlight today and you couldn't even see the scratches at certain angles, but you could at others.

Hopefully your paint isnt super soft, and just using a milder product now and then wax will solve it.

Some swirl when you look at them, and are obvioulsy harder to work with.

That Scratch-X video is a rip.
You have to buy the DVD
Are there any free videos out there ?
