You use Ultimate Quik Detailer as a rinseless wash?

I am from the Michigan area, Macomb Township. I am in the same boat as you. I have a black 2009 Nissan Maxima and its a pain to keep clean with the amount of road salt they use here in MI.

However, I am getting ready to pull the trigger and order some ONR from ADS. Reviews on the board from those who have used it have been nothing but positive.

Their are a few touchless car washes around my area, which would be a hike for you coming from Clarkston. However, Check BP and Mobil 1 gas stations. I have a BP and Mobil 1 gas station down the street from me and both offer a touchless wash. I usually just do the basic wash which is a double pass of foaming soap, a high pressure rinse and a vortex blow dry as you pull out....its $6 but if you get gas you get a $1 off the wash.

If the cold is bearable, I will just go to the local coin wash and spray the car down with just the water. I will probabaly take this approach once I order the ONR to get the caked on salt off before using ONR. The touchless drive-thru is another aternative, however I am not sure what effect the foaming soap has on the polish/wax thats been applied.

I use ONR in the winter. I much prefer washing the old fashioned way, but if I do this during the winter my locks freeze.

I also use ONR diluted as a clay lubricant, works very well and is a very cheap replacement for other lubricants.

As a recent ONR convert I can vouch that this stuff is awesome. It may feel weird using it at first, but you'll get used to it. Plus it's cheaper than using the automatic car wash AND you won't have to worry about those nasty scratches in your paint.

              Re: ONR? and Winter Washing

I just used Optimum No Rinse for the first time today and I was extremely surprised by the results! I was very skeptical that the product could be so simple and effective to use!

Obviously this isn't a substitute for a good wash but in the cold winters of New England, this is the very best I can do. Now I can transition into spring without worrying about not being able to wash often enough! I just need to keep getting the salt off my car.... it's horrible.

It rained for the past three days so I didn't need to go to the coin-op car wash to do a thorough pre-rinse. I suspect that this may be necessary in the future, though, just to get the majority of the contaminants off the paint.

It is also very good to use if you have severe water restrictions like we do. Ours have been relaxed a little bit. But knowing I cvan use the onr to keep the car clean sure is nice.

ONR is great because you can just wash the whole vehicle then by the time you're on the last panel most of it's already dry. You can then just use a MF drying towel to get the little bit left over or you can just go straight to a QD or spray wax. ONR is all I use to wash my vehicles.
