It's probably clear coat. Once you start polishing the paint, if you look at your pad and it has color from the paint, it's single stage. For example, my dad's truck is single stage black and my pads are totally black after a few minutes of polishing where on my clearcoat cars they never pickup any paint, just dirt and grime.

By the way, I'd suggest yellow pads for both of the products mentioned above (UC & M20). For M21 and s100, you might prefer to apply by hand. It won't really change the effectiveness of the waxes applying by hand vs. machine, but most people like applying last step waxes by hand.

I bought the compound, so I buff the #20 off with a pad.

          1. Wash & Dry
          2. Clay
          3. Perform test spot with Ultimate Compound and Megs Yellow Pad
3a. If happy with result, proceed with rest of car.
          4. Make sure all UC residue is removed from car
          5. Using the White Pad apply Megs M20
          6. Remove M20 polish
          7. Apply M21 or s100 as last step (optional)

Both will be applied with machine and wiped off with a microfiber by hand (unless you have some bonnets for your pads, then machine removal is possible)

To prevent sling, apply product in a straight line 3 to 4 inches long place buffer to right side of line, cock pad to raise pad at the 10 o'clock position start buffer pull pad across the line and lower to flat pos at the end of the line. This pull pick up the product and throw it back down on the surface of the panel. It does take a little practice. This is called the 10 o'clock method.
