While I have my bike apart I'd like to detail while I've got everything exposed.

After moving I currently have:
a drill, some buffing wheels, diff. compounds, carb cleaner, carb dip, and a ton of Meguiar's cleaning products.
How do I handle all that slotted aluminum on this air cooled engine? I realize the bike looks good already - I want it took like AS GOOD as it can.
It's my 1979 Suzuki GS55L with 7,300 miles so I'd like it to keep looking young.
(can I wax the chrome fenders to protect them?)
