Maybe, maybe not. You are trying to remove a product that is designed to adhere to glass in such a way that it prevents elements from sticking to it in the harshest environments. As such, removing it will be difficult. The type of abrasives found in M04 Heavy Cut Cleaner will help to grind away the coating and even then, it may not remove it all. Hence why most use lighter fluid.

The abrasives found in UC and SwirlX are very different from M04. You may be able to use UC and a cutting pad with the DA to remove it, *maybe*. But very doubtful with SwirlX.

Still need to do that on my Roush just to be sure it's all gone. My blades still catch and chatter in certain spots, and since it doesn't get driven in the rain much, I wouldn't doubt there is still some on the window somewhere.

Nope, not even close. If you want it removed, either an abrasive like M04 Heavy Cut Compound with a rotary or use lighter fluid. Otherwise it is on there until it wears off...

It is not the application that is the problem but rather the results when it starts to wear off. When the products begins to wear off in sections, the wipers will grab and skip. This may be a function of the environment as a harsher environment may wear the product off faster than others. Perhaps different wiper compounds also make a difference.....

The other problem is that it does on some glass create a window blur when headlights are passing. Any coating to glass may cause this, but it does become a problem on some glass. But unlike a wax, you can not simply wash it off with alcohol and water. Most people end up using lighter fluid to remove it.

Hopefully, it will work for you. But like I said, these problems are real and not imagined.

Isn't the additive "incompatible" with standard windshield fluid? I mean, these are usually very aggressive so as to get rid of bugs and so forth. So adding some sort of "waxed" product to it seems weird. Not knowing the composition of this additive makes me wonder if it isn't bad for the windshield washing system either...

I fully stand by the additive. I use it in my cars and it works great! I would suggest that over applying the actual Rain-x. It can be added to regular windshield liquid or water. It does a good job in the winter too. It coats the same way as the manual stuff does without the haze! This is the easiest yet! Definitely worth a try.

I use that additive in my truck, though I'm not sure if any is in there presently. Seems to work pretty alright.

My own observation with Rain X is NOT to use it on your side mirrors as they are typically not made of glass and is more like a coated plastic. Use the Rain X long enough and it seems to cause the reflective 'glass' on the plastic to fade off.

It seems like some people can use RainX with success, some get chatter. Some can wax with success, some get chatter. Some can UQD/UQW with success, some get chatter. Or smearing, etc. If you want a window coating, hopefully you can try a few things, and one will work.
