That may be a bit excessive. A good, thorough rinse wouldn't do? It does for me.

Its all about reducing the risk to instilling swirls and scratches.

If I drop mine, I wash it in the washer seems to be good to go so far!

I haven't tried the MF mitt, but got a gold color Meguiar's wash mitt, love it!

Also have a lambs wool mitt for the wheels along with my brushes if needed.

Of course, I know that. What kind of mitts are you guys using that are so reluctant to release grit/dirt? Mine seem to let it go with a thorough, high pressure rinse with the hose.

When I use my MF mitt, I tuck the cuff in. I'm afraid cutting it off would mess up the integrity of the mitt. So I play it safe and keep it in one piece.

The MF mitt holds TONS of liquid, just like microfiber should. To help hold even more liquid, the gold class MF mitt is lined with thin sponge material.

            (completely unrelated note)
As for reducing the potential (and speeding up a wash) : I might buy another MF mitt, along an extra bucket and gritgaurd. I do like the MF mitt but I have to rinse it more often.

my bad, forgot to mention that the ones i dropped were cheap ones that are synthetic wool, after it gets washed and dried the "wool" becomes tough and dry with many small but visible pieces of grit and dirt.

But I also have the same problem with MF mitts, they seem to really grab on to dirt if you drop them. After a wash I literally had to pick the pieces out of the mitt by hand.
