As far as polish goes, Deep Crystal Step#2 Polish is a pure polish with no cleaning ability and it is designed to create brilliant high gloss and would be the next step, but keep in mind it is really an optional step these days, as paints are so resilient.

Good. I will try SwirlX. I will do WASH - SwirlX - WAX.

I have only used M82 a few times (M205 came out soon after I started using M82), but I was VERY VERY pleased with it when I did use it.

I used it to chase M105 on a Yukon and it finished out 100% perfect with zero swirls or holograms remaining and was easy to remove, too.

Those pictures were taken with NO LSP... just M82 and then pictures. I was impressed!

I find the name SwirlX very misleading. I was at a local store (Canadian Tire) today. I overheard a bloke saying that he doesn't use SwirlX because SwirlX is designed for swirls, and that his car doesn't have swirls.

We all know that SwirlX does more than simply remove swirls. It is a cleaner polisher that is effective for scratches and blemishes. But people tend to get the idea that it is designed strictly for swirls. Having an old black M5 on the label also makes it suggest that it is a product to combat strictly swirls on older black cars like the 80's M5.

Haven't thought of that...Very Interesting.

I can vouch for either #80, or #82.

Both are great for fine polishing, but has anyone considered D151 for removal of marring?

I used it the other day, as a last step before waxing, and it did a great job of removing toweling marks, as well as leaving a superb gloss.

Try KOI Hannah Paint in Middletown. They carry a lot of Mirror Glaze products.

Yeah, I have worked on a few VW Passats. I did a test spot with M205 and it worked nicely.

M205 is less aggressive than SwirlX so that may be handy for you too.

I only have M82 in case of the problems with soft paint like you mentioned.

Like Mike mentioned, I have found the M09 at Pepboys.

Good point and for that we need to apologize...

M09 Swirl Remover would be a good solution also and it can be found much easier than M82. In fact, you can find it at most auto parts stores !!!!

M09 Swirl Remover 2.0, M82 Swirl Free Polish and maybe even M80 Speed Glaze will most likely remove any micromarring by SwirlX. I havent seen SwirlX not finish out nicely though, so I cant comment on that,

If I were you, I would pick up a gallon of M09 or M82. These two products are definitly muc less aggressive than SwirlX

Yeah I don't know what experience you have had with really soft paints. But I have worked on a few VW's that have left some marring

For your needs, have you tried M82 Swirl Free Polish. Less aggressive than SwirlX and it just may be your answer to losing DC #1 ?

Again, I need this product for when I need something that is less aggressive than SwirlX.

I use it on my own cars, when they have very light swirls, or the paint just needs cleaned.

I also find this product much easier to work with, in terms of Application, Consistency, Removal, etc.

SwirlX is way too Thick, Hard to get out of the bottle, and chunky...
- I still love the product, and it works wonders, but again, when I am detailing a car, and the paint is very soft, SwirlX will induce marring/halograms, I need DC1 to remove those.

I think Meguiars needs to keep their classic 3 Step System, I have used it for years.

Tough question....For light / fresh spots, SwirlX will be great. If they (water spots) are left on there and not addressed for a while, Ultimate Compound would definitely be the best choice....

The polish would go on after the above and before a wax...
