Re: DC-1 Discontinued
Hi Mike! So which compound would you use or do you like the most (swirl x or ultimate compound) my car is black so I see water spots a lot since we have hard water and does the polish go on after or before these are used?

Re: DC-1 Discontinued
DC-1 is being phased out in the US. However, it will still be available outside the US...
SwirlX or Ultimate Compound would be options to replace it since they both fall under the paint cleaner category. Paint cleaners are designed to remove paint defects (swirls/stains/oxidation/scratches etc.)
The difference is SwirlX is less aggressive than Ultimate Compound. So depending on what type of defect(s) you have, simply choose 1 to do the jobKeep in mind, they can both be applied by hand, orbital and D/A polisher.
As far as polish goes, Deep Crystal Step#2 Polish is a pure polish with no cleaning ability and it is designed to create brilliant high gloss and would be the next step, but keep in mind it is really an optional step these days, as paints are so resilient.
Next would be applying your favorite wax Gold Class NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 etc...

I still have a new bottle of DC 1.
It sure is a great product...hate to see it go.

DC1 is being phased out
SwirlX is now the least aggresive paint cleaner in the consumer line.
pure polishes do not have any cleaning ability

DC-1 Discontinued
Although I still see DC-1 in the Meguiar's website, I read that it is or will be discontinued. Is this true?
If so, what do I use to CLEAN in the 5-step process? SwirlX or Ultimate Compound? What are the differences between these 2 new products?
I am a bit confused that SwirlX is in the Paint Cleaner section. My understanding is the purpose of a paint cleaner is to remove wax and surface contamination. Then the next step, Polish, is to remove swirls and fine scratches.Tags: None
