    Re: Full Detail on Audi

    Got it.

Now I'm wondering if the LC CCS Yellow pad is even harsh enough? Maybe a pad switch as well? I think I will try one more time and see what I can do. I do know there are a couple of scratches down to the primer/sealer so I won't worry about those but I want it to look like that Red Mercedes!

Also, is using #21 Sealant a good enough finish step or should I throw a paste/liquid wax on there?

Might. All you can do is try. Remember this quote from Bounty:

ES300: Wow, I used D151 but by hand. What amazing results! Do you think that you could have gotten the same results by using a DA?

Bounty: Don't think so on this particular paint. Remeber that on speed setting 6 a true dual-action polisher like the Flex 3401 is spinning at over 9,000+ opm's and 450+ rpm's. An orbital like a G110 or PC7424 with only the single oscillating action will spin a little over 6,000 opm's on setting 6. Huge difference in terms of corrective power. Audi clearcoat is typically very hard...similar to Mercedes CeramiClear or GM two-step clearcoat (Corvettes, Cadillacs, etc). Were it something softer like a Honda results would have been similar. But then again the Flex would probably have gotten a 100% correction on those surfaces.

My guess would be to try a bit more aggressive pad and either D151 or M105 and see if that helps. If there was any hazing you could follow up with M205 or something like that. I don't really have any experience with a DA (bummer) but I'm going by what I've read on countless threads. I'd shoot Bounty (or Presidential Detail, or both) a PM and ask what you should do. He'd be able to give you a better answer than I could. As far as M21 goes, I believe it's fairly similar to NXT 2.0. Haven't had the chance to try it myself, but I have heard great things about it from fellow MOL'ers. I might try it once my bottle and a half of NXT 2.0 is used up.

        Another question......
it seems like 105 flashes quick and has a fast work time. I can spray distilled water or Quick Detailer to lubricate the pad a little, but is there anything I can do about the dust that comes off the product? I end up with a lot of dust on windows and a lot of splatter on adjoining panels. What's the deal with that? Too high of a speed? Nature of the beast?
