If you are using it with the foam pads...

Hey bored, try spritzing the pad with water and keep on polishing! M105 is nice stuff once you keep it wet. Work a smaller area too and you'll get the shine you're looking for without having to keep working to break down the abrasives. And I mean just a light spray of water, not too much or you'll make a smeary mess just as with using too much of any product.

I've been able to keep polishing after spritzing with water and adding very little product occasionally on a purple foamed wool pad as well as Meg's foam. I did an entire vehicle using only 1/3 of a 12 oz bottle of M105 and 3/4 of a 16 oz spray bottle of water. It was a sunny day, about 85 degrees and partly in shade, partly in sun so I'm sold on it. Hope this helps. (if it's good enough for Mr. Chapman, it's good enough for me!) Just a suggestion since you already have M105.

Ultimate Compound is the next step down on Meguiars scale.

I agree with 10Degrees - use the Kevin Brown method and you'll be happy with it. It's not that hard to master and well worth the effort.

Having said that, a really good alternative in my opinion is M95 and it's about half the price with the same cut. It's got both SMAT and diminishing abrasives so it behaves a little more like M83. Also works very well with the Kevin Brown method.

Just to note, M95 is recommended for rotary buffer use only. You can try the KB Method with M105, or read through this thread,

              Using a wetting-agent with M105 and M205

As already stated, the next step down would be UC followed by ScratchX 2.0

              You're using a DA Polisher?

Like the others, I would not step down from 105, its such an amazing product. Even though Nick got it to damn near finsih down perfectly with PFW, I have found that it finished down nicely using a G110 and a white LC or CCS pad. Smaller area is the key, and the KBM method really is quite amazing once you load the pad properly. Just give it a few more uses, and try some ideas these guys have given you and hopefully you will come back to us loving it, and with pics to show too!!

Very important point. Anytime a product becomes difficult to work with or a number of different reasons), try shrinking your work area down in size.

                    Please review this also,

When you say step down.....I assume you mean more aggressive? If that is the case try a different pad + M105 combo first. Some of the best advice I got from this forum is start with the least aggressive product you possibly can, then step down. M105 is at the top of the aggression chart. Things to think about.

With 105, it is almost a must to clean after every panel..

Ultimate Compund would seem to be the next logical step down (in cut) from 105
