Re: Downgrading from M105 but to what?

    My 2 cents:

M105 is a great product and it does not have a difficult learning curve. However, it behaves quite differently from other polishes and, at least for me, behaves VERY differently than many postings seem to describe.

So, I would describe it as a misunderstood product.

From various postings, I expected M105 to behave like M205. M205 stays lubricated, does not dry out, produces no dust regardless how long it is worked, and it's easy to wipe off.

Using M105 is not difficult but simply different.

And, M105 is VERY different - it appears to "dry" quickly and produces a moderate amount of dust.

Understand, and accept, the following differences and you will find terrific results:
    1. M105 appears to flash quickly. This is NORMAL and is not a problem or sign of trouble.
    2. Ignore this flashing and keep polishing through this stage.
    3. It will produce a fair amount of dust. This is also NORMAL for M105.

    Here's what I found works for M105:
    1. I do not prime the pad
    2. I spray a tiny amount of water on the pad (I check the pad after each section to insure it does not feel completely dry. Spray tiny bit more water as needed)
    3. I apply polish to the pad. Spread on surface of paint before turning on polisher.
    4. Turn on polisher
    5. Within seconds of beginning to polish, the M105 appears to dry out. If you stop here, the wipe off is very difficult.
    6. Don't stop - continue polishing.
    7. The M105 will begin to dust and almost appear to breakdown like a diminishing polish. You can work as long as you like.
    8. There will be very little visible M105 left on the paint and wipe off is very easy.

OK - now I'm going to show off. Followed up by M205 it can produce nice results.

If you still give up on M105, try Menzerna Intensive Polish.

      I don't think it matters. I have a Flex XC3401.

The myth is that M105 is a tricky product and that there is a "magic/correct technique" that you must master to use it effectively.

I think that is bul.., hogwash !

I spent many frustrated hours trying every variation I could read about and nothing succeed in getting it to work like I "thought" it was supposed to.

I finally concluded the problem was not how M105 actually behaved, but how I expected it to behave.

Try it again, it's a great product.
