    Re: tape recommadations

    Hey,

I use both the 3M 233+ performance green and 3M Blue. The 3M 233+ is a LOT different than the green one Mario posts above as that one I have used and just hate!

The best is the lime green 233+ as it sticks well, keeps a tight edge and comes is all kinds of sizes. The 3M Blue is quite a bit cheaper but does not stick as well

The 3M vinyl tape is available and has been for a long time. I am not sure what the difference is in the one that Mario posted, but the model numbers match. It is great, but at $20+ per roll it is a little pricey for most detailers!!!

That green tape you showed is cheaper and so is the darker green than the 3M Blue, but not the 233+. They may look similar, but they are not. Do a google search for 3M 233+ Performance Tape and you will see the differences.

I was picking up a few supplies at a local auto parts (Lordco) and had the 3M Vinyl tape in my hand. So unless there is something new, and there could be, about that particular tape that Meguiar's was using in the garage, the regular vinyl tape has been out for quite sometime. I would be curious what 3M changed? Either way, if it is priced like what I saw ($27 per roll), I will be staying with the 233+.

          Thanks so much!
Mike Pennington showed me that "new" tape,
shoot him a pm and I'm sure he'll tell you what he knows.

3M "471+" vinyl tape is a "new" product. 3M "471" vinyl tape has been on the market for "a while", it looks.

Not sure on the differences between the two products. I was impressed with the way it went around tight curves and such. We used it in the March 2009 Advanced class.

              Re: tape recommadations

I used 3M Blue this weekend on my truck and it did a good job.
I am still getting the hang of taping off the curves, but I am getting there.
