Which Product for SwirlRemove with Pics

Hi all, a friend is coming for eeuu and I'd like to buy some meguiars products for my car, here I leave a few shots so you can see how the paint is. I's thinking in buying Mirror line, but all suggestions are welcome . I already have the clay bar kit, and 2.0 NXT paste wax, so I need products to remove the swirls, a sealant and I definitily will buy the UQD. Thanks to all! oh.. I almost forgot to say that I'll be using a rotary buffer, and I need also pads for the products.

Before anyone goes suggesting products, I want to know do you actually know how to use a rotary buffer? If you don't, you have the potential to essentially completely ruin your paint if you use it wrong.

Well if you know how to use it and are planning on picking up some mirror glaze, I suggest you get m105, m205, and as for consumer line products you could try picking up some Ultimate compound for deeper scratches by hand, and you could also grab some scratch-x2.0 and swirl x (I'm not sure if these are rotary compatible)

It looks like 205 could probably take it all out without having to go more aggressive and use the 105 fyi.

Like Adnrew said, those swirls do not look too severe- more like moderate. I would start by testing M205 with a polishing pad. If that isn't heavy enough, then go with M86 Solo cream on a yellow polishing pad. See how that knocks the swirls out. If it is working, then follow that with M205 on a finishing pad.

If even still the M86 does not work, you might have some tough paint and you may want to reach for the M105 at that point.

If you are getting severe holograms from the first step that the M205 with a finishing pad will not remove, you may need to follow the M86 via M205 with a polishing pad and then a third step by using M205 with a finishing pad to remove the remaining minor holograms.

It really depends on the paint and how it reacts.

I highly suggest developing a system (ie combination of pads, products, and speeds) that will give you your final results in a 2x2 area before doing the entire car. Once you figure out what system will get the job done start to finish, move on to the rest of the car.

Hey thanks, I already recommended to my friend to buy SwirlX-ScratchX 2.0-Ultimate Compound, he will be working by hand. And from what I've seen M205 can do the job!, without getting to M105(highest cut) which other product I can get? maybe between 7-10 level cut thanks!

Mark thanks! I sure I'll do a test spot first, and AG it selling the M205 with Finishing pad, so I'd need to but polishing and yellow right?

I would have at least 1 finishing pad for wax, and at least 1 finishing pad for polishes like M205.

For polishing pads, I would get 3 or more (pads get built up and aren't a effective, plus you need to test different products). The polishing pad is the yellow pad, w8207.

Can be #95 Speed-Cut Compound another option instead of #105? What differences they have?

They both have the same cut ability, it's just M105 has more bells and whistles so to speak when it comes to finishing out to a high gloss finish, but both will work great and if you're going to re-polish with M205 then go with the M95.

Stick with the Soft Buff 2.0 pads as they are machine washable and machine dry-able and a great size for buffing when using a Rotary Buffer.

I was wondering if I follow 105 with 205 would be ready for LSP or should apply another product before wax? in that case which products can be recommended? Also, I need a sealant or can avoid this step and apply wax?

A member posted this thread last week, but I don't know how accurate it is. Mark gives solid advice, so definitely listen to his suggestions.

I would not skip the sealing step. Ask your friend to bring some NXT Tech Wax 2.0



($15 a bottle at WalMart stores). This will do a fine job for sealing your finish. You can apply a wax over the NXT 2.0.

You would do a Test Spot before you go over the entire car and make sure the paint is looking great from your "system", which includes your skill and ability to use the products.

TEST SPOT

Doing A Test-Spot

Before going over the entire car, see if you can make just one small section look good, that is apply the product you're planning on using over the entire car to just one small section about a foot squared or so. Work it in and then wipe it off, then apply the polish, work it in but not as much as the compound because now you're not trying to remove paint, just spread the product out, then immediately wipe it off, then apply the wax and let it fully dry and then wipe it off.

Now inspect our results. Make sure you can make one small section look GREAT before going over then entire car. If you can't make one small section look GREAT you won't be able to make the entire car look GREAT.

Wax and paint sealant do the same thing so you would pick one or the other, don't get confused over the wording and for a complete explanation check out this thread,

Hi again, I just got the M205 and the 2.0 finishing pad and cutting pad but I wanted to know if the 205 can be used with the cutting pad?
Also my pads are new, is it recommendable to wash them prior first use?
