It needs refining and im leaning towards some kind of plunge device see illustration below

pretty cool, I may try that as one of my buckets cracked on the bottom, got me a drill.....

Make sure the bits sharp get a nice clean hole or you can burn of the burs which is fun (don't inhale).

I got you now. I thought you were wasting a lot of time but I understand the fun and joy of experimenting and the learning that goes along with it and streamlining the process.
my wife would agree with the former.

i guess as long as it sits above the bottom and stays in place and lets the gunk through to the bottom it *should* work

Yes its working did my wheels this afternoon and sure enough all the dust bunnies and wee tar nastiness where in the host bucket.
