  • Home Made Grit Gauard -Slide show

I made a slide show out of my home made grit guard.
I could not find the real thing around here (Mississauga Canada).
    So here goes

Disclaimer:I am a newb so don't use this on your Porsche OK -buy the real thing.

so basically you could have saved some time by just drilling holes and what not in the bottom of one bucket and putting it into another one??

or am i looking at it wrong??

            That just might work!
The concept is the same but, GG has less surface area so more dirt can fall through.
So if you make some bigger "slices" I think It will be fine.
At first I thought you were going to put the wood in there!

No you got it -I documented the journey so to speak -by the time I did the second one I used the router freehand with no template and it cut down on burs because it is way more powerful and cleaner than the drill .

I still burned the holes (with a candle this time) to melt the burs (fewer with router) because it was fun.

It really does -maybe I can sell some to the grit guard starved Mississaugarians.

I did contemplate a paper filter at one point - but I did not think of a wood one

Nice work, another option is to use egg crate/ light diffuser.

buy a piece, cut it to the bucket and glue something to it to elevate it in the bucket

I have only tried with a handful of dirt -but indeed it did drop through -albeit with a handful of dirt some stayed around the edges.

I was also thinking a cheapo culender could be fashioned to sit at the bottom of course I could just crank the credit card and order the real thing.
