Ive been using Westleys Bleche-White for a NUMBER of years as well on tires with steel and aluminum wheels both. How i apply it is spray a thin coat around sidewall and spray a moderate coat on to my tire brush. That way when i scrub the tire, it doesnt have a chance to drip/run off before it is scrubbed into tire and begins to foam, thus clinging to the rubber of the wheel. I very rarely ever get any on the wheels, and when i have nothing has happened, as long as i rinse it off in a timely manner. Just be smart about how you use it and it should be fine.
