Just in case any MOL folks do not follow the conversations at Autopia, I thought I would bring to your attention a very interesting thread on the effectiveness of the M105 Ultra-Cut Compound. It appears that some fine detailers, employing some suggestions advanced by our own Kevin Brown, are getting excellent results using M105 with their dual-action polishers, results comparable to the results normally achieved by rotary polishing. A lot of enthusiasm is being generated as detailers experiment with #105.
From what I can glean from the discussion, the key appears to lie with the proper priming of the pad, as already discussed here on MOL: Priming a Pad. I am beginning to wonder if the new non-diminishing abrasive technology is going to force everyone, including Meguiar's users, to creatively re-think their polishing techniques. Bryan Burnworth has described his adaptation of the "Kevin Brown method" here.
This is all way above my pay-grade, but it is an interesting conversation nonetheless. Clearly this experimentation affects not only effective use of M105 but also M205, SwirlX, and Ultimate Compound. I wonder how all of this impacts newbs like myself. Feel free to eavesdrop on the conversation, as I am doing.
Cheers,
Al
