Re: Only see swirls in sunlight
Here's what you're looking for... bought this exact model at our local Pep Boys this last Friday, (March 6th, 2009), and after California Sales Tax it came to $38.77
Be wary... the Xeon Flashlight aka The Swirl Finder... is a Cruel Master
Works great as a general purpose flashlight also!

Occasionally I have the benefit of working in a ship with metal halide lighting...which is the best aside from sunlight (but EXPENSIVE!).

But, swirls can be tricky, sometimes one light works, sometimes a different one does. That is why it is always best to test under several types of light if you can (I typically do halogen, flourescenent, dual xenon, and sunlight).

When inspecting paint, using the Brinkman and bright sunlight will show swirls more than good enough to enable you to see where you need to get to work.
Florescent lights work pretty well for other kinds of defects besides swirls.
That's three kinds of light to help you see the defects in the paint and when you've removed them after working on the paint.
