My bad! I thought the Brinkmann was the $150 Xenon. I stand corrected!

After you get the Brinkmann. Maybe you should invest in one of those portable canopies. It would give you the shade you need for yourself and your customers.

The cheapest thing to do is to only drive the car at night or when it is raining.

Here's what you're looking for... bought this exact model at our local Pep Boys this last Friday, (March 6th, 2009), and after California Sales Tax it came to $38.77

Be wary... the Xeon Flashlight aka The Swirl Finder... is a Cruel Master

Works great as a general purpose flashlight also!

^ Thanks. So that spotlight will find swirls that my work halogens wont find? Even may find some that sunlight wont find?

It can. I have one and from time to time it finds stuff nothing else would. But, swirls can be tricky, sometimes one light works, sometimes a different one does. That is why it is always best to test under several types of light if you can (I typically do halogen, flourescenent, dual xenon, and sunlight).

Occasionally I have the benefit of working in a ship with metal halide lighting...which is the best aside from sunlight (but EXPENSIVE!).

Haha, it's not too bad. I use florescent in the overhead lights, halogens on a tripod, and then I have a hand-held dual xenon. Come to think of it, I also have an HID LED light as well, but I find that it works similarly to florescent.

When inspecting paint, using the Brinkman and bright sunlight will show swirls more than good enough to enable you to see where you need to get to work.

Florescent lights work pretty well for other kinds of defects besides swirls.

That's three kinds of light to help you see the defects in the paint and when you've removed them after working on the paint.
