Re: would these steps be ok

i just read the thread on the red ferrari, and its awesome, the process that is, that #80 took care of what i have "swirls/webs" I guess it might be beneficial to get a DA, so i can better facilitate the application of 80. Any way on a side note, i am sure some have heard the saying,"different strokes for different folks" why would someone reccomend me a rotary as the only way to go, though i see some VERY good results from the DA, "he", the rotary buffer guy says he would not use.

    thanks in advance

        You mean this one?

Each one, teach one... Ferrari Fiorano 355 F1 Spider

That was the first time that young man had ever used a DA Polisher and things like foam pads and M80

Machine cleaning and polishing will always produce better results faster when used correctly.

Re: would these steps be ok

i am seriously leaning toward the purchaseof the DA, despite the comments from that one person i mentioned, i do have some expierence with some machinery, 10 years ago i was in an auto body program in school, i was not taking it seriously though,:-(. 14 years ago i worked for a detail company and they used the dual pad da machines,. I know if i take my time and follow some protocol, i will have good resultsm i just dont want to eff up my truck, i cant afford to fix any paint work, thats why i dont want to use a rotary

here is a pic of the webs i took yesterday on the hood after clay, 80 and 2 coats of wax, not the best pic

here is a pic from today, it beads well but....

and lastly, i remembered where my confusion of "swirls/webs" came from, i thought that swirls were the marks on the paint that look like machine DA applied product. but after the product was removed and you look at the paint in the right light you still see those so-called swirls.

i just got some swirl x, have not used it yet, i am still trying to refigure my game plan, i cant use it on the hood, i have to wait untill i get the da so that i can use 80 to "remove" the wax which i just did last weekend. mabey this weekend i will try a fender or the tailgate, with the swirl x, then wax, with this brings another question, one of which i am not sure of, like i said, before the this past summer was over i did some work on my truck, just did not have time to finish, though i clayed some pannels and applied 2 coats of wax, now if i go to use swirlx on the tailgate is swirl x going to work since the wax is one there. There might not be much left since it had been washed alot

As you work SwirlX over the paint the abrasives in SwirlX will remove any wax still remaining on the paint completely off the paint.

Then as you continue to work the SwirlX it will remove small particles of paint which will act to level the surface towards the depth of the defects you're trying to remove.

Remember to work small sections at a time, about 12 inches square or so...
