all my quick disconnects are gilmour (they make good quality products) and they can be bought at your local lowes for $5.98, and they also come with a lifetime warranty.

Thanks, Brandon for the detailed look at a foam gun. I will be waiting for your test of the unit. I am thinking about getting one. Good luck with it.

Don't forget....after putting liquid soap in the jar, add water. If you don't, the plastic tube will become clogged plus it might not be able to pull up pure soap liquid.
Of course, after adding water to the jar, your soap mixture is already diluted, so the different adjustment holes have a different dilution than what the instructions read. I don't carry a calculator with me while I wash, nor would I know what numbers or formulas to punch in anyway, so I use a little chart someone else made to know what dilution I'm actually using.
If you just dump "a glug or two" of liquid soap then add water in the jar, you're going to go through a lot of soap, as Black Bart said.

That is what I figured, will have to play with it a little.

Re: A closer look at the Gilmour Foam Gun....

                Well, the goal is 128:1.

So, the one quart jug is 32oz, and say I put in 5 oz of soap. so that is something like 32:5, (I fill the jug to the very top) which is 6.5:1.

The Gilmour website says highest concentration ratio is 10:1, and the second highest is 20:1.

So, running the 6.5 solution through there, you would get 64:1 on the highest setting, and 130:1 on the second highest setting.

So yeah, looks like I overdo it a bit. Should be able to use 4oz and the highest setting to get 80:1, which is better, or use the second setting. But I dont think one extra ounce of soap will kill me, esp in winter.

I think I actually started off using the second highest setting, and moved to the higher one for the heck of it. You'll use more of the solution at the higher setting of course, which for me means about 1 jug per car. I would have a little left on the second highest setting, which was kind of a pain to save without spilling.

Thanks for the info... I would rather use more soap that not enough and really don't worry about the cost as long as its Gold Class.

also... after your done using it, fill it up with some water and spray it out so you can clear out any leftover soap that could potentially clog it up. i do it everytime after use...

Re: A closer look at the Gilmour Foam Gun....

Dunno about my ratio setting but I have the exact one. Been using it for the past year and I've eliminated the need for a rinse bucket

I tend to put 1-1.5cm of either Hyperwash/Gold Class Wash, DP Autobath, or DP Extreme Foam into there then warm water to dissolve it all up. Placed on the maximum setting, I just sit back and foam the car down. 1/2 the time its blowing away in the wind so I waste a bit, but who cares?

Dawn works just as well in there BUT, it takes about 6 hours for all the foam to dissolve

looks like a good product, I'll have to pick one of these up, it takes over an hour for me to wash my car as it stands, and that's without wheels/tires

As far as I see, it works with garden hose, isn't it?
