dumb question: is there any way to secure the foam wand with the mixing head?

It tends to fall out when I point downwards at an angle

No problems with mine.... it is suppose to 'snap' into place. Takes a little force to get it to snap in, I believe there is a little metal 'spring' type thing on the foaming nozzle to lock it into place on the brass 'body'.

i pamper my corolla here is some more info for you....

In the photo below is the 'locking ring' then if you look closely at the foaming wand you will see a small wire (or spring) that will lock into this ring. Does that help?

I think mine came with 2 nozzles, a foaming one and a spraying one. So I guess it is meant to pull on and off, but never have switched mine.

The second nozzel isn't anything special.... stick with the foaming lance works far better.

What soap are you guys using. I'm going with hyper Wash for my foam gun. I may just stimulate the economy and order Shampoo plus.

                  I use #62.

Have used Nxt, Gold Class, and Shampoo Plus in the past.

Notice how there is little, to no foam left on the first side he sprayed. So he sprays it again, and I am sure the other side has now also dripped all the foam off. I am willing to bet the sun has dried some of this stuff onto the car. For some reason, perhaps because the soap doesn't allow beading, foam seems to dry faster than plain water. With my Gilmour I found myself running around at an exhausting pace, just trying to keep soap from drying. I grant you, spraying the foam is fun, but in my case, the actual washing became a chore, and not a slow pace and fun. I will stick to the two bucket method and use the Gilmour for what it was designed for....spraying insecticides or herbicides.

So, the one quart jug is 32oz, and say I put in 5 oz of soap. so that is something like 32:5, (I fill the jug to the very top) which is 6.5:1.
Sorry to be late to the party on this, but this ratio is off.

If you put 5oz of soap in a 32oz jar and then fill to the top with water, you have 27oz of water for a 27:5 ratio, or just under 5.5:1

It's probably due to the increased surface area the foam creates. A gallon of water spread out on the driveway is going to dry faster than a gallon of water in a bucket.

No problem. If memeroy serves me right (and I did the ratio from memory, so I could be wrong), the 32oz line is not at the top of the bottle. So if you fill the bottle to the top, you end up with more than 32oz. So it is all approximate.

As far as spraying, yeah, I go panel by panel. Not tackling the whole car at once. The soap and water will slide off of a well waxed car.

I need all the help I can get. I would like to use My 1 Quart Foam Gun on Sat. I bought Shampoo Plus which is 128:1 but I don't know how much of shampoo plus should go in the bottle or how far I should fill it up with water. From there where do I start with the stem (settings wise) I've looked at this gun several times along with the instructions and I can't make out which end is which when it comes to the gun stem (lever

Technically the best thing to do would be to start by first foaming your car. Wait a few seconds. Then rinse it off. Then foam it again for the wash cycle.

This way would allow the first rinse to wash away more particles than a normal rinse cycle since the dirt would have been broken up

I understand that part but I'm trying to figure out how many ounces of shampoo plus should I use in the 1 quart bottle. I was thinking 1.5 oz if I use the 1-20 (6oz/gal) setting. My thought is that the 1-20 setting is the second highest but I'm not sure. Which setting is the most powerful? how much shampoo plus to add? where should I fill the water up to in the bottle and what setting to use on the gun.

                                Thanks
