I don't know if it is possible to keep a black DD swirl free without periododic polishing to remove light swirls. I can't keep from trying to keep my 09 Camry looking its best everyday, and since I live in a dust bowl, I'm going over it with Last Touch at least every other day. No matter how careful you are you will introduce swirls over time.

It has been about a month since the last time I removed the swirls and I'm starting to see light scratches / swirls already if the sun hits it just right.

That being said, I'm glad I bought a black car and it is a real labor of love keeping it looking its best.

    Mike

With Your D/A and the 1-2 punch of 105 and 205 you will be happy with the results. Keep us updated with pics.

Proper washing technique is the key, isn't it? I have yet to master this technique, as the swirls in my black car witness. If I had the money, I would invest in a pressure washer and foam cannon. The guys over at Detailing World swear by their foam lances and their "touchless" washes.

With that line-up you should be very capable of maintaining a fantastic finish. The key though, once corrected, is proper wash technique.

If you want tips on wash technique do some searching for 2-bucket method and you should find plenty

Yes, brand new G110. plus M205, M80, M83, and M105 and several 2.0 polishing and finishing pads. Plus I have all my waxes already and clay and everything.

    Thanks for your encouragement!!

I may buy another Mercedes-Benz this weekend, and the best car for my needs is a black one. I normally have owned somewhat lighter color cars. My other Mercedes is a dark silver, not the typical lighter silver you see on Mercedes, a darker one. It's a pretty color and is gorgeous after detailing.

However, my passion for detailing has also made me appreciate the amazing reflection you get from black cars.

Sadly, it even has a couple slight swirls already, but not as bad as the other cars.

Question: With my experience and knowledge of the detail world, could I keep it swirl free, or should I not try for this car?

I'm getting a DA polisher anyway next week, and I'm quite familiar with all the products in the pro line despite being a hand only person until now. Is there any reason to think I can't keep the car swirl free most of the time, with my experience and equipment and babying it from day 1??

    Thanks!!!
