My assistant manager has a gorgeous integra, just got fresh paint. and he has a carbon fiber hood with oxidation. I think it is a gel coat because it is a whitesh color oxidation but it does not look like clear coat failure. Is it fine to use M80 or 83 on a gel coat finish? I have never worked on a gel coat finish before is it a lot a like a clear coat?

Thanks guys, I did some looking around on the forums and I think m80 will do the trick to remove the oxidization. I am going to call the manufacturer if my boss remembers the company name. Sorry for the kinda pointless post.

Just for clarification, you can use the Professional Line products on gel coats.
I've used both diminishing abrasives and non-diminishing abrasives on these paints without a problem.Chris

Look for the words Carbon Fiber in the Popular Tags Box.
Also, M80 works great for restoring oxidized carbon fiber components in most caes, if it's really oxidized badly, then you may need to use an aggressive compound with a wool pad on rotary buffer or it could be past the point of no return.
The Popular Tags Box
On the forum homepage in the right hand column there is a box titled,

Re: I need some info about carbon fiber and what porducts I should use on them.
Thanks you guys. I just did a search and I did find a thread similar to mine. The hood was turning white and hazy which is the same symptoms as the one I would be working on and M80 was mentioned in the thread so I am going to give 80 a try. I will do a test spot and see how it turns out. The other day my work I took a different brand of polish and did one spot and it looked much better but the oxidation is still there so I am thinking if I take 80 it might be able to bring it back. I will see about maybe doing the car today if he is at my work. His new paint job has swirls in it already. I will take pics.Alex
