Re: 30 days wait to wax after fresh paint job?????

the Worst case scenario of the of the paint blistering and coming of the car scares me.

I put NXT 2.0 on the car and I'm trying to wash the car as much as possible to get some of the LSP off.

I did use M80 and NXT 2.0 on top of that. It took the swirls away. I put NXT 2.0 two weeks after I got the car from the body shop.

What I'm concerned about is, since I did put NXT 2.0, will Orange Peel happen????? or this that only during the spray gun painting procedure at the body shop?????

I read on this forum about "dyeBack" or "DieBacking", its about paint underneath the clearcoat becoming bland and not flat/ not shiney.....???? will NXT 2.0 after two weeks after a repaint do this to my paint?

Applying a wax will not cause orange peel, orange peel is the result of the spraying process.

This is the "possibility", thus the paint manufactures recommendation to wait for at least 30 days before applying any kind of product that would act to seal the surface. Personally I've never seen it happen to an automotive paint so don't worry as worrying won't do you any good anyway.

If you're not careful in how you wash the car you will instill swirls and scratches.

The best way to remove any type of wax or paint sealant is to simply rub the paint down with a light cleaner/polish like M09 Swirl Remover 2.0 or you could use the M80 you already own.

After you rub your car's finish down with the M80 take a break, back away from the car. Leave the paint alone until after the 30 days have passed and then polish and wax it.

Why didn't you believe everyone here when they told you not to apply a wax or sealant for a minimum of 30-90 days?

In any case, you can remove the coat of NXT you applied by applying a paint cleaner. You already have M80, so you can use that. Deep Crystal 1 would also work. (Correct me, folks, if I'm wrong.) Remove the LSP and give the new paint sufficient time to cure and out-gas. As Mike has explained, you can work on removing the swirls with M80 and M83 and you can hide the swirls by applying a glaze or pure polish, like Deep Crystal Polish or M07--#7 looks great! It won't last too long, but you can always apply more coats.

          Good luck.

Re: 30 days wait to wax after fresh paint job?????

Hey there, I'm doing a science fair project on whether polymer sealants really protect paint or not (yes I know that they do). I have some pieces of sheet metal that I primed, painted with automotive paint (in a spray can), and applied a clear coat (also automotive in a can). All the painting and stuff was done outside. I know that you should never do that but renting a paint booth, buying a spray gun, and high quality primer, paint, and clear coat, is not in my budget. I did prep the surface before priming though. There are obviously imperfections on the finish, but no fish eye or huge problems. I don't have a lot of time to do this (aprox. 2 months) so I am speeding up the industrial fallout process. I have to apply the wax very soon. Today I applied the clear coat at around 3:15. The paint is perfectly even and fine except for the minimal imperfections I mentioned before. I know that paint needs to cure for 30-90 days. I am apply the wax by hand so I would imagine that it's not as bad by hand as compared to with a rotary buffer especially because you need experience with a rotary buffer. By the way, I am using Turtle wax's Super Hard Shell

When I painted my car, I waited 60 days to get wax it. I just washed it often.
I would not use even spray wax.
