i cheaped out on the pad, i have 2 brand new w5000s but i used the wool pad that comes with makita 9227c.
Would that have made a difference.?

Your using products that are too aggressive for what you're trying to accomplish.

There's been a few recommendations to how to fix the product already posted to this thread, read back through it and give one of them a try.
