  • Swirls left by Wool Pad on Headlights.

I used rotary with wool pad as advised, for the first time on my headlights, and it left numerous swirls all over the headlight.
    How do i fix this?

Then #80 with Yellow Pad on Rotary according Mike's Videos on youtube.
Then #26 with Brown Pad according to settings.

Those are all about paint...never saw anything about headlights.

I've never used wool on headlights myself, wonder if they add grooves? I would just try a wet sand and then repeat your steps but with foam instead of wool.

My personal plan of attack is Meguiar's Unigrit sandpaper, 2,000, followed by 3,000. Then I use M86 (S010 Cut and Polish cream) on a 4 inch orange pad via rotary around 1k RPMs, followed by a light polishing pad at 1,500 or so with PlastX.

You could probably substitute M105 for the M86 just fine though.

Bottom line, try just using a medium polishing pad.

Maybe try PlastX by hand or machine?

It's for plastic and it works great.

I have M105 and Yellow, Brown and Burgundy pads. I dont have the Orange pad. And they are all 6.5 inches.

Try Plastx as Mike recommended above. I used it on my SC400's 15 yr old headlight units and it worked well ... by hand. Your results may very well be much better with the machine.

Also, don't panic, worry never helped anyone and will not solve your proble. Try Plastx and report back.

                          Good luck.

You could get the new Headlight and Clear Plastic Restoration Kit found at Kragen, Checkers and their partner stores.

i cheaped out on the pad, i have 2 brand new w5000s but i used the wool pad that comes with makita 9227c.
Would that have made a difference.?
