  • First Time G110 User

    Hey All,

So I used my new G110 for the first time last weekend. I have wasted too many years waxing by hand! This thing is great!

After washing and clay barring my Mustang I busted out some #80 and went to town. Man, WAY better results than last year when I hand applied some nasty Turtle Wax polishing compound (probably did as much damage as good)! I am very happy with my 15 year old paint now.

I also used #83 on a few scratched areas that #80 couldn't fix. Somewhat surprisingly, I did not find much of a difference between #80 and #83. Perhaps what I thought were moderate scratches were more severe. I used the G110 on speed 4, some pressure, and made at least 4 passes in a criss crossing pattern.

What is the next step more aggressive than #83?

Also, I definitely learned not to let the products dry on the surface! Major PIA to remove after drying. In fact, I still have some minor splatters that I could not buff out with a MF towel.

Anyways, just thought I'd share my first experience with the G110. Money very well spent...just as I was told by some of you!

what type of pad was used with the 80 and the 83?? the same one?? with the 83, when I did my Acura cl-s, I found great results with 83 at speed five and only using 2-3 pea sized drops on the pad..
    Fergy-

You're only as good as your last detail

Glad you liked the G110, great machine indeed.

Remember that you can use the G110 on Speed Setting 5 in your cleaning phase. That will step it up a bit.

If you didn't have any success at all you can get D151 that's a bit more aggressive than M83 or you can even get the new W7207 pad and try it out with the bottle that you already own of M83. Or like miahjohn said, you can get some M105 and with some passion behind the pad try removing it by hand

          Good luck!

Thanks. For reference I used separate and brand new W8207 pads with both M80 and M83. I do have a new W7207 pad as well that I could try as suggested.

First, if you haven't already, read the below and make sure you're not making any of the common mistakes...

Next, sometimes a DA Polisher will not remove deeper scratches as it's just not powerful enough to remove a ton of paint like a rotary buffer or even your hand...

OK, So i've let my truck go further than i'd like to tell. Between going out on skinny roads with lots of brush and no time to get a proper detail in, it's come down to this. After 2 passes with 83, then 1 pass of 80 to remove the haze left from 83, it gets 95% out. (The swirls are not problem, it's the straight line

hi all, My horse trailer needs a facelift. This trailer is made out of aluminum with single stage metallic paint. (learned about single stage paint here) From the picts you may be able to tell it as a lot of oxidation. In order to get my trailer looking the best i can where do i start and which products do i use? thanks

Can You Use the PC to Polish-out #2000 Grit Sanding Marks? (http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18202) Fixing a chip and sanded down the touch up paint with 2000 grit. Was thinking of using new ScratchX on a DA to polish it out. Would ScratchX do the job on a 2000 sand job, or should I use something else?

1966 Buick Skylark GranSport with the Original Single Stage Lacquer Paint I am working on a 66 Buick Skylark Gransport that has White original single stage acrylic lacquer paint. Last weekend we pulled it out of the barn and I washed and clayed it. The paint feels a little rough and dry and appears to have some

Is any scratch on paint that you can feel has depth to it, to far gone for simple correction using a DA polisher? I would say it has

Just as the title reads, there is real heavy stains in the paint. I can wash it and dry it and there still there. The other day I buffed it with the Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner/Polish, Grit 6 and it hardly at all did anything. It looks like some bad waterspots. Its only really on the hood, roof, hatch and the top of the

              Example
After applying a paint cleaner by hand to remove swirls and scratches to a car with a red single stage paint job and then turning the applicator over you can see that red pigmented paint accumulated the most where your 4 fingertips pressed down on the applicator pad. You get these same types of results when you're working on a clear coat finish by hand, (with a paint cleaner), except you can't see the accumulation of removed paint because it's clear.

Might try M105 by hand and then re-clean and polish the area by machine after the hand cleaning step.
