  • Many Questions!

Ok, I first I am trying to make a "christmas list" of products I want/ need to buy.
Where can I get all of these professional products. Should I just use Meguiars Online store?

What is THE BEST stuff I can use. I see these "extreme makeovers" and detailing jobs on cars, and I would just love to do it.

    I need:

    - Engine Cleaner
    - Polish
    - Wax
    - Tire Shine
    - Rim Cleaner (For Aluminum and for my Lexus Rims that are painted?
    - Leather Cleaner/Conditioner
    - Interior Trim Cleaner

Can PlastX be used on the instrument Panel/guage?? I have dust and swirls on it and am curious. Also, can PlastX only be used on "clear" PLastics???

Basically I need a full line up of products. Hope you guys can help

    Re: Many Questions!

I like to shop at autodetailingsolutions.com.

    1. Engines - APC+, APC, or Super Degreaser would be the choices.... APC+ being most versatile.

    2. Polish - #7 is the top of the line.

    3. Wax - Depends what you want, but Nxt 2.0 and #21 2.0 are the best protecting, and have the water repellant polymer in them.

    4. Tire Shine - I use the Insane Shine Trigger spray, a lot of people like the Gels, and many people use All Season Dressing. Different tires can react differently, so what best for one may not be best for another.

    5. Rims - I really like the Hot Rims Multi-Piece Wheel Wash for my painted rims, which has been relabeled the Aluminum Wheel Wash. Remember for painted rims, you can also use clay and a paint cleaner if needed.

What kind of aluminum is it?

      Re: Many Questions!

I don't even know if they are painted?
It is what lexus uses on there small SUV's that you see everywhere

The Aluminum is polished aluminum I guess. I have used Mother's Aluminum Polish and it has worked great.

What should I get for Leather Care too?

The 2 step, or a Gold Class Gel, Spray please help!

        Re: Many Questions!

Would be best to call and ask a dealership to be sure, but the Aluminum Wheel Wash should be fine.

I dont really like the leather wipes, but the spray is good for a quick touch-up. For a deeper cleaning/conditioning, you would want one of the liquid products. You would be fine with either the Gold Class or the 2-Step, its just a matter of how much time you have. If you have the time to do the 2-step, that will likely give you the better results. On new leather though, both will come out pretty close.

Yes, PlastX is only for clear plastics.... and it would be appropriate for removing swirls on the instrument cover. Quick Interior Detailer can be used for regular dusting.

Thanks for the site link, it's less than Meguiar's Site. Do you like that site?

                Re: Many Questions!

How about some interior protectorant? Also I would get a gallon of Apc. The all purpose cleaner has so many uses. From tires and wheels to interior carpets. Very versatile product. Otherwise your order looks good.

Is Gold Class Vinyl Protectant Spray the best?

GC Vinyl and Protectant I'm using right now cause I already have it (it's good), but I understand like #40 is what you really want, which is in the mirror glaze line.

So what's the order to do things here?

                      - Wash w/GC Shampoo & APC+
                      - Clay
                      - m83
                      - m80
                      - nxt 2.0 or m21

                      Polish down the road, M07...

                      Interior: M40, the QID
                      Exterior?

UQD, M135, or a Spray Wax???

What's better on the tires? Hotshine gel or Nxt spray?

                        Re: Many Questions!

Wash - What do you mean by wash with APC+? If you mean tires, and wheelwells, then yes.

                        Clay -

Clean - #83 only if needed. Always try #80 on some test spots first. Likely want more #80 than #83.

Polish - #80 is a cleaner/polish, so using a pure polish like #7 is optional.

Wax - Nxt or #21 2.0's. Remember, two thin coats.

Maintain - UQD or #135 are my favorites... #135 is the bulk size of UQD.

                          Re: Many Questions!

Yeah, use APC+/Super Degreaser on the engine, wheels, tires, wheel wells, etc.

I may scratch #7 and use the NXT Speed Wax Spray.

I will try #135 once out of UQD maybe...

What Buffer pads should I use w/80 and 83. then nxt 2.0

                            Re: Many Questions!

You would want the polishing pads for 80/83, either the 8006 or the new washable ones.

Then 9006 Finishing pads, or the new washable version, for the wax.

Is it even worth getting Glass Cleaner by Meguiar's or is Windex fine?
