Re: What Kind of Tape are You using?

I think another key to the 3M tape is the holding ability/strength of it. I have found that the medium stuff leaves a little more adhesive behind while the low leaves little to nothing behind.

You can tell the strength (at least on the 3M stuff) by just looking at the label around the inside of the tape. They usually have a strength meter with dots as well. Just wanted everyone to keep that in mind when buying their next roll of painters tape.

You mean the duct tape I've been using hasn't been good for my paint?

I think it's acutally working pretty well now that I look at it from the right angle. I just think you need to tape off the other light, the emblems, and window moldes and you should be good!

                    Hey,
First let me say welcome to MOL!
The color of the tape really does not matter. Blue is just the most common color out there. What really matters is that you will not leave any residue from the adhesive on the vehicle by using a quick release painters tape.

I got some blue painters tape, not sure of the brand, and I have no complaints thus far. I would like to try the 3m green tape sometime.

3m Blue Painters tape, Sherwin Williams paint store had a sale on 1" 6 rolls for $29.95.

the Walmart Duck brand works good but I found in my experience that 3m sticks better to rubber trim that has been treated in past and doesn't leave residue.
