  • Heavy Stains In Paint.

Just as the title reads, there is real heavy stains in the paint. I can wash it and dry it and there still there. The other day I buffed it with the Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner/Polish, Grit 6 and it hardly at all did anything.

It looks like some bad waterspots. Its only really on the hood, roof, hatch and the top of the fenders. Any responses would be apprectiaed. Thanks.

                Re: Heavy Stains In Paint.

Are you using some sort of polisher? Orbital, DA, or rotary?

Well, you're best bet by hand would be some M105 and a terry cloth.

I had an Expedition last year with similar water spots and swirls. It took M105 and a wool pad on the rotary to finally remove the marks. The PC with M83 and a polishing pad didn't touch the damage.

                Best of luck!

Sorry for the delay... it can be hard to keep up with everything taking place on the forum and things going on behind the scenes.

Here's a tip that might help you in the future to focus on surface defects...

How to capture pictures of swirls in your car's paint

Besides that, if the stain is in the paint then it's just a matter of how far the offending chemical has penetrated into the clear and then removing enough paint to remove the stain.

Often times you can exert more pressure with just your fingers than you can with a DA Polisher because with a a polisher you have all the pressure being spread out over the entire face of the buffing pad and your fingers pushing down on a wax applicator pad has a lot less surface area.

                  Example
After applying a paint cleaner by hand to remove swirls and scratches to a car with a red single stage paint job and then turning the applicator over you can see that red pigmented paint accumulated the most where your 4 fingertips pressed down on the applicator pad. You get these same types of results when you're working on a clear coat finish by hand, (with a paint cleaner), except you can't see the accumulation of removed paint because it's clear.

As mentioned before, if they can be removed then M105 would be the way to go...

The process is the same as shown here,
