  • How to Store Meguiars Products?

I have read a number of problem threads with Meguiars products, like (to paraphrase), "ScratchX ... a whole load of liquid came out first ... I wonder if it had been in the cold" or "NXT Tech Wax hazes ... I wonder if it was frozen in transport" or "#26 has gone all lumpy like it has curdled ... did it get too warm?" for example.

How should we store our products to protect our investment. I'm from the UK - we have decades of history of storing our car cleaning products in the garage where they will meet with a temperature range from -10 degC (say, 10 fahrenheit ... or colder in the more northerly climes) through to over 30 degC (in the 90s) and we pretty much forget about them until we come to use them. I don't have a garage, so I store mine at the top of our cellar which is cool and will go down to external temperatures in winter.

I have not had a problem with other products, but am I safe to keep my newly acquired Mirror Glaze range of polishes, waxes and sealants in that place? Also, is #16 okay in the same place? My other paste waxes have been fine there, so I reckon it will be okay.

Should probably be kept somewhere in the range of ~50F (to keep from freezing, which in turn can cause product separation) and up. I'm not sure if there is a top limit, mine have seen some pretty hot days before and they are all fine. Just don't let them freeze!

50? Little calculation ... about 10 degC ... Blimey! The house is sometimes barely over that temperature in winter. Hmmm ... better keep them all inside for certain. The cellar head doesn't quite freeze, but I bet it's below 50F, certainly in winter. Where I live is quite high, so temperatures are worsened by the exposure, which our Met Office call "extreme".

The other extreme is not a problem in Britain ... we rarely see over 30 degC (towards and into the 90s).

      Thanks

I say 50 just to be on the safe side. Of course, things can freeze in 40s, so just trying to be a little more cautious because that stuff costs money!

I agree. Keep your products from freezing and they seem to do ok in the long run. Good luck.

Right ... thanks guys. I'll find somewhere temperate indoors to keep them and most likely move my other stuff in there too, to keep them company.
