I use a 2 step project stool made by the same company as the work platform shown above (Gorilla Ladders), unfortunately it doesn’t look like they make it anymore. I think it’s better than the ones they offer now, the steps have a lot more surface area (top step is about 14x15 with a height of 21") and the project tray is more of a storage box with a double hinged folding lid that makes the try. The storage box is built in toward you instead of out toward your work area, which helps you get closer and you can also lean on it for stability when needed.
Lowe’s also carries a number of project stools/ladders and platforms that are made by Werner that are worth checking out.
