Re: Paste, Liquid and the NXT 2.0 longevity debate

Well of course #16 is going to outlast NXT2.0. It's non-VOC compliant!!! That has nothing to do with paste being better than a liquid. To me, some pastes are better and some liquids are better. It's all in the chemical make up. I personally haven't used a paste but 3 times last year and that was at a customer's request.

A big over looked factor in the durability issue is if the paint is "clean". This means claying if needed after a strong wash and then polishing. Also, I can tell the difference in durability if I let NXT2.0 cure on the paint for about an hour then take it off versus just letting it dry.

    Just my experience.

Re: Paste, Liquid and the NXT 2.0 longevity debate

My spouse just changed jobs, and her car will now be sitting outside in a parking lot under the summer sun. So, I just finished doing her car with clay and Swirl X (PC DA buffer). I finished by using 2 coats of the last of my NXT version 1 on the car, went to the store to buy more NXT, and discovered NXT had changed to Vesion 2.0. So I searched this website to see the differences and found this thread!

Are the improvements in version 2.0 enough to add a coat of NXT 2.0? If so, how long do I need to wait before applying a coat or 2 of the version 2.0? Or is it better to just wait 2-3 months and re-detail the car with the new product at that time?

The new 2.0 version is a better product than the first version but NXT 1.0 is still a great wax so no harm in waiting till you wax the car the next time.

If you wanted to apply a second coat of wax using the new version you could apply it at any time as long as the surface is clean from washing or wiping down.

Thanks, Mike! BTW, the SwirlX worked out pretty well with the PC set on 5 - but there was enough swirling and light scratches on her car that a professional with a rotoray is probably in order. I was doing the detailing to see what kind of results I could get with the Swirl X and a PC. Like I say, it worked out fairly well, but the effort showed me that I am probably going to have to let the pros do any scratch and swirl removal from now on, and just do limited clay and wax work.

As for #3, if I don't get any takers, I'm going to conduct my own test and I'll post results online (and video maybe on youtube).

              Nice website BTW.
