  • Meguiar's Car Duster

    I bought Meguiar's car duster a while back (6 months ago) off Amazon. It worked pretty well - using it 5-10 times. All of a sudden, it is leaving piles of orange-brown dust (the fibers are orange-brown).

    I stored it properly and didn't abuse it - using it always on a car with light (not ground-in) dust.

    Has this happened to anyone?

    Should I go with the California Duster to replace?

    ADS has a Microfiber duster that I would recommend over the coated/waxed cotton dusters (California Duster).

      ADS seems to have all the tried 'n true products.

        I have 2 Cali Duster and 2 Meguiar's dusters. One thing that I do that really isn't in any of the directions/instructions, is constantly shaking it out. It gets rid of any loose dust, dirt, and fibers.

        Both of them have left fibers here and there, but they come right off when you drive.

              ADS = autodetailingsolutions.com

              They are pretty much the #1 online vendor of Meguair's products. Rick the owner is very helpful too.

                  Haven't heard of anything like this happening with these dusters in the past.

                    like others have mentioned I shake my duster out before/after each use and have had no problems. I just wish Meguiars still made them, I have been very happy with mine!

                      I never heard of that happening before. I have a car duster that I got from Walmart and it works great.

                        Mine too from Wally World, and I also shake it after and before using it.

                          Re: Meguiar's Car Duster

                          I'll try to shake the bejeebies out of it, or blow it with some compressed air. If that doesn't work I'll call Customer Service just to see if there is anyting I can do.

                          If I have to go another route, at least I can steal its long handle for use on the Meg's wheel/tire brushes.

                            Wouldn't it be risky to use a duster? I would prefer to wait and do a proper wash. And I have heard some of them leave streaks behind.

                              If there is light dust I have found very little risk if any when using a duster. You have to keep in mind light dust not dirt. I believe they can streak on a hot/warm surface.
