Re: Windows Streaking
Well, some Windex glass cleaners can damage the tints - I believe they are the ammonia kinds.
Try some of the NXT Glass Cleaner or the Detailer Glass Cleaner and a glass microfiber towel. Microfibers do a much better job than paper towels and newspaper.Chris

Try some NXT window cleaner, and a WW towel. Better yet... pick up some MF surgical towels. They work great on glass. Or, when Meguiar's re-introduces their Ultimate Wipe detailing cloths this spring... give them a try them!Boss_429

Re: Windows Streaking
Having worked in the newspaper industry, all the inks are soy based and there aren't too many companies that make the ink (think cheap) for newspapers.
Its defiantly the ammonia that is the OP's problem. I know that on aircraft windows (not made of glass) the ammonia actually damages them. There are plenty of good class cleaners out there for use on car windows. Meg's makes several. If you have the space for it, buy a 1 gallon of the detailer line's glass cleaner than mix it 10:1 and you'll have a good long supply.

Re: Windows Streaking
I just ordered the D-line glass cleaner and I MF glass towel from ADS today! I wasnt sure if I should get the Megs glass towel or the other 'Premium Quality' one. I figured since megs disco'd theirs I would get the Premium Quality one. Its only $2 so it doesnt really matter.
I cant wait to try it! Ive never had problems with getting the windows clean, but I can make around 3 gallons of cleaner with the sample from ADS! That will do me forever!
I have had problems with the megs MF towels not gliding over the inside windows though. It just sticks to the glass and wont move, its very annoying. Ive been using some cotton WW's I got at walmart in the kitchen section and they seem to be working 'ok'. Hopefully this glass towels will be nice and slick. We will see.Current Jeep: 2004 Jeep Liberty with stuff

Re: Windows Streaking
i have had great results using the Meg's Glass Cleaner in the Spray can that foams up some when you spray it on the glass. I wipe it off with a micro fiber towel. Here is a tip so you can see where the streaks are. Wipe the exterior glass side to side and then the interior up and down and if it streaks you can better see what surface( inside or outside) the streak is on this will save you from having to redo the entire piece of glass trying to kill those streaks.
