I've had comparable results. It's truly a testimony to the fact that NXT is Meguiar's longest lasting wax.

Can anybody post a link to the aggressiveness scale? I can't find it.

Evo77 I have these same pinpoint etchings and scratches all over, on my 02 honda civic. I tried scratchx on my hood this weekend and after 5 or 6 applications, and nothing to show for it I was very frustrated. I too wanted to get a PC to see if it would remove it. I just dont know if its worth the money though if it doesnt work to get them out. Oh and mines red too,

If M83 with our W-8006 on a dual action polisher on the 5.0 setting used with proper technique didn't remove the defects with multiple applications, then in order to remove the defect the most effective method will be to use a rotary buffer probably with a cutting compound.

I'm not even going to attempt Scratch X on a small spot because it will be a waste of time.

I thought that my arm speed was too fast with the PC which I caught myself doing on many occasions so I forced myself to remember to slow down and keep the pressure on the PC and overlap my passes by 50% like Mike suggests but as previously stated, numerous applications and no noticable results except a slightly deeper shade of red.

Mike, will a rotary work #83 into the finish better than a PC? Which compound and pad do you recommend with a rotary.

                Evo77,

I rotary will definitely work better than the PC for taking down the finish, but with that comes paint removal. If you have 83, I would start with a yellow polishing pad on the rotary, if after a few attempts and it's not doing the work, then you could switch to the maroon cutting pad. As stated earlier, this can be dangerous if you don't know what your doing. if you do go that route, you will want to follow it up with 80 on the PC afterwards to remove any holograms the rotary left behind.

You can work wonders with #83 and the G100. You need to go slow.....

With that said...... once you use a rotary, the G100 will become an impotant "last step" in paint polishing.

Yes I'll have to admit that I may have rushed the buffer passes a bit as I was excited to see results. I kept telling myself to sloooooow down however after numerous applications those etchings weren't budging.

I guess I'll have to buy a Makita and step this up a notch. These etchings bug the hell out of me. Everytime I wipe down my car and I look closely at the finish I see tiny little specks everywhere. I can thank the morning dew for this. I park outside so when dew forms on the top portions of my car the sun will burn them dry on my paint.

If you have never used a rotary before, then I wouldn't make your car the first vehicle you try it on, rather one of your friends cars instead! I'm joking of course... Find something like a hood or a fender from a junkyard, or someones old beater that you can practice on before you do your own...
