Reading the descriptions they both list as cleaner/polishes with the same uses. I have read the difference in pure polishes and cleaner/polishes but this one is confusing. Please enlighten me guys as to their differences.

How are 9 and 82 different?

From a Megs' rep...
#9 features larger diminishing abrasives that break down faster because it was formulated for single stage and older style paint systems.
#82 features smaller, more frequent, and longer lasting abrasives that break down slower because it was formulated for dual stage, basecoat/clearcoat systems.
Even though #9 is more abrasive initially (the difference is very small) its cut time is less, thus giving it about the same total cut as #82.
Now what does that mean to me personally? Nothing, because I have used both, by PC and rotary and noticed very small differences. #9 seemed a little more mild, but this is probably do to the different paints I was using them on.Let's make all of the cars shiny!

#82 difference different
I am looking at hitting my truck with either #82 or #9 tomorrow. I have used both products a time or 2 but not enough to really understand the differences between them. What I am after is this. I have minot swirl here and there. Mostly MF/Towel induced swirls, nothing major. Most are likely in the wax coat itself. I don't
Good day fellow detailers. I have a simple question to ask, I think? I always wondered what the difference was between #9 and #82 polishes. They both have the same cutting ability of 3, and they both are polishes, so where do they differ? Does one offer more oils? What are your experiences with the two products and what do you
#9 and #82 sound like they do the same thing with the same aggresivness rating on the front of the bottle. What's the difference? I plan on using #9 on my truck but wondered what the difference is??? Adam
I've been using Meguiar's products for a couple of years and I love the results I get with everything I try. I want to try #81 Hand Polish followed by NXT on my Silver '92 Saturn with some light swirls, noticeable only in bright sunlight. But what should I prep with? Specifically, what are the exact differences between the
I have much about all of these products being great and all, but how does one know which product to pick for a cleaning product? Each seems by the bottle label description to be almost the same thing, and this confuses myself, and I am guessing other people relatively new to Meguiar's. Is any one of them #82,#80, #9
Hey Mike, I browsed through the whole NXT Generation Forum and I found one thread where you stated that NXT/PC/W8006 combo rocks.. But in your product/pad recommendation, it would be great to use either the W8006 and the W9006. I already made the mistake of using a W8006 pad for my #81.. Would this be ok? As for the NXT,
Tim (or anyone else), When is it better to use #80 rather than #82? I've been very pleased with #82 on my black Hemi. Do you use #80 when there are no swirls to speak of? Tom
Im fresh out of polish and looking to get a new polish. Well i still have a bottle of show car glaze but i only use that when i have alot of time on my hands to remove it. Im looking to get a new polish. But which one should i get. #82.. does that remove paint little by little when you use it? Which one should i get?
I want to remove the swirl marks on my black car ... the swirl marks are visible only around the reflections of a large bright light source (e.g. the sun). It is not visible from most other "viewing angles." I have read that Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish (Model A-2116) is the solution. I have also read that No.
Mike, Can you give me a rundown on the differences between #9 and #82? They are both a 3 on the scale. They look and feel the same. From what I have heard #82 has fewer fillers in it. Is that true and if so is that the only difference? Thanks Bob
What is the difference between; #9 Swirl Remover #82 Swirl Free Polish Meg#M8201 #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish Meg#8301 & Scratch-X What I am looking for is the best product to use with my Porter Cable random orbital polisher.
