So I am going to apologize in advance for this long post. I just started getting into auto detailing around a month ago and I want to get a g100a to do things I couldn’t do by hand. First off I wanted to list the cars I will be taking car of and my goals then I wanted to show you my shopping list from ADS. Any feedback would be great. If you don’t feel like reading and commenting on everything you can skip to the questions on the bottom.
Cars:
1. 2006 IS250 Lexus Smokey Granite Mica (Dark dark charcoal). It's a daily driver and parking out side at my apt but in a parking garage at work. Paint's in pretty good condition right now and I want to keep it that way.
2. 1996 4Runner Tannish. The car has been neglected. There is tree sap that has been on it for years, some parts of the chrome bumper seem a bit faded, the leather is super dried and cracked. I'd like to make this car look as new as possible. It's also parked outside. Driven every once in a while. Can't notice too many swirls because of the color
3. 1998 Landcruiser. Silver. Another neglected car. Not too many visible swirls because of the color. Just want to keep the car looking relatively new looking. Parked in garage, daily driver.
4. 2006 750i. A medium gray color. Paint is in great shape (only a few months old). Hasn't been driven that much and is in the garage. Want to keep the car looking perfect.
5. 1991 735i. Burgundy with a gazillion swirls on it. Paint has been totally neglected. I want to make this car look as new as possible. Garaged and driven every once in a while.
Ok if you are still with me, these are the products I am planning on ordering from ADS.
Ordering:
G100A
8006 (2 of them plus the 1 that comes with the G100)
9006
#80
#83
#26? (I don't see it on their site)
DA Polisher Bonnet 2 Pack
Bug and Tar Remover
NXT Wax
NXT All Metal Polish
Trim Detailer or Exterior Trim Detailer
Clay
Aready have:
ScratchX
ColorX
NXT Wax
QD
Some Clay
Eagle One tire shine
Eagle One 20/20
MF towels
Some questions:
1. Which is better for rejuvenating faded trim? Trim Detailer or Exterior Trim Detailer?
2. Should I get the Mild Clay (200 g) or just order 2 of the Quik Clay Detailing System? What’s the difference in the clay?
3. People say you need a pad for each separate product. Does this include a separate one for NXT wax and #26 (if I decide to top 26 over NXT?)
4. I was thinking of getting the 32 oz size for 80 and 83. I’d like to keep costs down so I rather get less but not sure if 12 oz will be able to take care of all the cars.
5. What other products do you think I would need? Will #80, #83, colorX meet all my needs with the G100A and restoring/maintaining the cars’ paint? I’ve heard a lot of ppl use #21.
6. Is #80 ok to use on the new cars?
7. The cost is close to 300 dollars for the items I listed above… is there anything I shouldn’t order to save money?
Phew, that took a while. Thanks for any responses and a special thanks to those who read the whole thing!
