  • is this right?

Well today I took the leap and spent the $16 dollars for NXT liquid wax, so tomorrow I'm considering detailing my truck, and I just want to make sure I have the order right on everything. Sometimes I end up using two products when one would be sufficient, so I figured I would post the products I intend to use in the order I'm hoping to use them and maybe someone can tell me if I have it right this time, lol.

    Whole Truck:
NXT Car Wash (Someone gave it to my Dad and he lets me use it )
    Clay where needed
Wash again to get off the QD
    Dry

    Next I wanted to use:
ScratchX where needed and until my arms get tired
-then on the remainder of the truck-
DC 1 until my arms get tired
-then if there still is some parts of my truck that haven't been gotten with DC 1 or ScratchX-
ColorX (I really need to get a PC lol)

Then over the whole truck I was going to use a coat of NXT Tech Wax.

Of course on the wheels, clean them and then Meg's tire spray.

PlastX on the little bug guard thing on the front and on the visors over the top of the windows (I don't know what they are called!)

On the wheel wells, I was wondering if Simple Green would work? I don't have APC or anything like that.

I just cleaned the engine today at the Coin-op so it looks pretty good, if anything I might use a little QD on the painted parts under the hood since they don't look that great.

Do I have the order right this time? I'm sorry I keep on asking such stupid questions! Thanks in advance for any advice/help!

    Well, if it were me...

    1. Wash
    2. Clay as needed
    3. ScratchX trouble spots
    4. ColorX everything
    5. Nxt Wax everything

DO NOT use Simple Green. I am pretty sure it messed up the plastic in my wheelwells, and severla people have posted afters of engines, and it is not pretty.

    Never stupid questions...

The ColorX works great. If you get tired or run out of time after the colorX you still have wax protection. Then you can come back the next day and start with QD and then apply the NXT.

If you use the ScratchX where needed, and then go over the entire finish with the Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, at this point there would be no reason to use ColorX, just go right to the NXT Tech Wax. Other than that, your process looks fine.

Thanks for the help y'all! I ended up doing what Mr. Phillips said (I didn't clay, though...it didn't feel like it needed it). I only got half of my truck done yesterday because I had to go to work, but hopefully today I can QD the parts I haven't done and put on the DC1 and wax (I of course washed and dried the whole truck yesterday). I gotta say I love the way that NXT wax looks. It makes my truck SHINE (except for all the scratches of course ). It was so nice to walk up to my truck last night after work and see everything reflecting on the side I waxed.

Another thing I did slightly different is I "spit shined" a few of the panels to see if I could tell any difference. Also, I did the front wheels (that's all I had time for) with NXT All Metal Polysh. I need to do the interior today, which leads me to another question. What product does Meg's have that would give the dash and other plastic stuff a little bit of shine, but most importantly, some protection?

Well, I use the Nxt Tech Protectant.

Spray it on a MF cloth, wipe it around on everything. Let it sit 5-10 minutes, then come back and buff off any excess.

That seems to leave my vinyl/plastic looking "wet", or moisturized I guess, but not highly glossy, if you know what I mean.
