  • Wax on rubber and plastic

I got a 'lil sloppy and got wax on some rubber and some textured plastic. I have tried many different products, including 'back to black'. It still looks terrible, does anybody have any suggestions? thanks

I have a couple suggestions that may work. First, I recommend that you use our # 39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner, along with a small brush (tooth brush type). Spray the M39 directly onto the brush, work the brush thoroughly into the areas where the wax residue is lodged. May require a couple applications. After this application, apply a product like our Trim Detailer (G10810). Wipe off any access product.

Be careful not to allow any of the M39 to dry on the paint while working on the trim, wipe off excess with a moist towel. Depending on how long the wax has been on the surface and the type of plastic will determine how well this works to resolve it. These two products have done very well in past situations like this.

    Good luck,

    Tom

I have heard that crazy recommendation for tree sap on paint or glass, but never for wax in vinyl and rubber.

#39 and a toothbrush worked for me in the past. Also, 3M Tire Dressing also effectively removed excess wax in black plastics.

To prevent getting wax or sealant on black plastic, I mask those areas off with 3M Blue Painter's Tape, which is available at any hardware or paint store. Masking off the black areas before you wax will save you a TON of work!

Your dad was wise about "try it first!!" Peanut butter pizza has pizza crust, tomato sauce and the peanut butter on top, cooked. Ate it on a dare at Hell's Kitchen in LA and it was AMAZING. We ordered two more!!

As for the trim pieces. The important thing about removing is to clean well first with the brush before applying anything on top.

We have a place up in Northern Ohio that has a BLT pizza that is unreal!
BTW I would not recommend using Bacon lettuce or tomato to remove wax residue on your plastic car parts.

most of the time i find that #40 with a m/f is good enough. the best part is you dress the trim at the same time!
