  • Need something stronger than ScratchX?

My car has some pretty heavy swirling. The previous owner used to clean the car by wiping it down with a wet chamois. Its not hard to imagine how all the trapped dirt in the chamois swirled the car in a big way over the past few years!

Anyways I gave ScratchX a go on the paintwork. It removed about 70% of the (lighter) swirls but it cant seem to reach the deeper ones, even with multiple applications and 'passion' with a terry towel. These scratches are definitely still in the clear coat, not the base. So the question is, now what?

I was thinking of trying Meg's Fine Cut Cleaner or Swirl Remover 2.0. Would that work better? Unfortunately products like DACP is not available here.

Unforunately PCs and the like are really expensive out here Down Under so I'd like to stick to Hand Application if at all possible.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link. I pretty much followed that proceedure that Mike had put up. I think maybe I need something stronger than ScratchX? DACP isnt available here unfortunately.

I think that Scratch X is the best you can do by hand, you can try #80 or #9 by hand but I don't think it'll remove swirls as good as scratch x w/out a PC

            Thanks guys.

I've used Scratch X as Mike has suggested, repeating the application 3-4 times. Going by what people say here, nothings better than Scratch X by hand (including #1) , so PC is the only answer now?

I thought #80 and #9 were PC only products?
