Re: Rust on my rim!!!
Your starting to get rims on your after market wheels? Do you mean water spots? If so what type of wheel do you have. The model name or pictures would help out.

are u sure that that is not just brake dust?
try Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner and give them a god scrub with Versa-Angle Wheel Face Brush
then to keep the brake dust away try waxing your rims when you wax your car
note that the all wheel cleaner will remove the wax on the wheelsLast edited by sneek; Apr 27, 2006, 01:07 PM.Patrick Yu

Once you get the rust off (and the claybar idea is a good one) then make sure you keep them well waxed. If in fact this rust is from your rotors then it's being deposited on the rims as opposed to the rims themselves rusting - and that just sounds bad. Anyway, if the rust is basically fallout sticking to the rims, a good coat of wax will make them easier to clean. Regular cleaning will help also.
Sorry, I just can't see that amount of rust dust happening in a couple of days. If you know your rotors are being this mean to your wheels, you need to give those wheels a bit more attention!Michael Stoops

hmmmm.... those rims looks like they should at least be painted/clear coated. I'm surprised that it would show up with some rusting that bad.
Yeah, I'd try what others suggested. Remeber, least agressive first.
I think the least aggressive would be to use all-wheel cleaner agitation with a soft brush.
If that dosen't work then an older claybar and NXT Metal Polysh

It looks like really bad break dust. You might want to consider changes the pads. Try to wash it off ASAP to prevent the dust from bonding to the finish. I don't think its rust the wheels look clear coated and clear coat does rust.
I'd recommend using our Hot Rims Multi Piece Wheel Wash instead of the Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner. The fact that they are aftermarket wheel the Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner may stain them. I would also use a wheel brush to help clean the wheel a whole lot easier.

Those rotors appear to have serious grooves in them.
What type of brake pads are you running?
Have you checked pad wear recently?
That's rust and what often causes it that badly in such a short period of time is a cheap semi-metallic pad or a dangerously worn pad grinding material off the brake rotor itself.See the big picture, enjoy the details

Incidentally, feel around the lower portions of your fenders, just past the wheels. My guess is that, if you don't already, you'll have some issues with the rust bloom there as well.See the big picture, enjoy the details
