  • ?? on polishing a snowmobile tunnel

    Hi,
I am new to this site, its awsome.

I have a vintage sowmobile I am restoring and the Aluminum needed help, deep scratches and weld repairs.

I first smoothed the welds and scratches with coarse and fine emery cloth, I then wet sanded everything with 320-600-1000-1500, then used miguiars cleaner #4 and #2, finishing up with a flitz ball and their compound.
This was my first attempt , it was OK but not perfect.

Question - Did I do it right or is there an easier/better method?

    Thanks - Bear

Nxt Metal Polysh will not remove scrathes, and that sort of thing. But now that you have them mostly gone, you can use it to polish, shine, and protect the surface now.

Here's a fun writeup that one of our moderators, 2hotford, did on his aluminum fishing boat.

Blinded by the shine (http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7241) Hey Everyone, As many of you know, besides being a detailing fanatic, I am also a fishing maniac! As such, my tools of choice are a fly rod and an aluminum 12' boat. However, since my first love is detailing, having an oxidized aluminum boat

This gives some insight into the polishing steps and results.
See the big picture, enjoy the details
