I just got a bottle of the Hot Rims cool care All Wheel Cleaner. It's supposed to be safe for clear coated polished aluminum rims, which I have. But it warns in step 3, "Allow product to penetrate surface for no longer than 15 seconds". That concerns me a bit. What if I happen to leave it on longer than that because I didn't do a good job rinsing off the product. Will it affect my brakes? Will it eat the clear coat? Does All Wheel Cleaner contain acid?
I generally wash my rims with Gold Class car wash, and brush off some of the nooks with an old toothbrush. They aren't generally dirty since I wash them so often, but my rims tend to have a lot of nooks so I'm worried about accumulated build up in hard to reach places. If All Wheel Cleaner is a bit risky, I'd rather just stick to my usual way of cleaning my rims.
